![]() ![]() ![]() I've never heard anything about this, and considering that the ET-Series solid body guitars had actual humbuckers in them, I find it hard to believe this particular claim about the EA guitars. There was also a Wilshire being produced at this time that looked like a cross between the original Wilshires and the ET models and probably fell somewhere in between quality-wise.Īnother thing that the article claims is that the ET-250 had a single coil with a humbucker cover on it in its later years. These guitars were nothing like the EA models and followed Gibson's original desings more closely. However, during the same time, Epiphone was producing actual Rivieras and Casinos for the Japanese Market and later for export (after 1979). And although the article claims that the label says "EA-250 Riviera", I dont believe that is actually the case. They were built 100% in Japan by Matsumoku and exported under the Epiphone moniker. Epiphone had little or nothing to do with the actual design of the guitars. What that wikipedia article doesnt tell you is that these Matsumoku guitars were already designed and being built for other companies like Aria. ![]()
